Review #144; Bourbon #51: George T. Stagg 2018

You know it, most of you love it, my first foray into BTAC of any kind, the 2018 release of George T. Stagg.

The details are a page long but the quick highlights:

Age: 15 Year and 4 months

Barrels: 284

Now lets dive in and see if it lives up to the hype

ABV: 62.45%

Nose: Dark Chocolate, Citrus, Cinnamon, Nutmeg, Oak, Caramel,

Palate: Thick, oily strong mouthfeel, Vanilla, Citrus, Dark Chocolate, Oak, Leather, toffee. The heat is there but its not overpowering and the flavors flow well together.

Finish: Long, hot, Leather, Vanilla, nutgmeg, cinnamon hint, oak, toffee with some honey and dark chocolate.

Rating:10/10

This is the first 10 I’ve given out, as it hits all the right notes for me and I can’t find one bad thing to say about it.

This is easily one of, if not the best bourbon I’ve tried so far. It’s the qualities I like in a bourbon turned up to the max with none of the tannic issues related to a bourbon of its age. Would I pay secondary, no but it’s a damn good bourbon expression.

1 | Disgusting | So bad I poured it out.

2 | Poor | I wouldn’t consume by choice.

3 | Bad | Multiple flaws.

4 | Sub-par | Not bad, but better exists.

5 | Good | Good, just fine.

6 | Very Good | A cut above.

7 | Great | Well above average

8 | Excellent | Really quite exceptional.

9 | Incredible | An all time favorite

10 | Perfect | Perfect
