Review #136; Scotch #38: Port Charlotte 10yr 2018

Background: This is a release from Bruichladdich, it is matured predominantly in first-fill American oak casks, along with second-fill American and second-fill French wine casks. It is peated to 40ppm. It is Non-Chill Filtered and Color Free. It is matured using the following casks:

• 65% 1ST FILL AMERICAN WHISKEY CASKS

• 10% 2ND FILL AMERICAN WHISKEY CASKS

• 25% 2ND FILL FRENCH WINE CASKS

ABV: 50%

Nose: Light Peat, Strong Vanilla, Honey, Malt, Tart Fruits, light funk. Well defined and good flavor

Palate: Medium mouthfeel, oily. Warm, bbq peat, light smoke maybe some ash, brine, vanilla, fruit hint.

Finish: Medium length, peat, smoke, vanilla, oak, some honey hint.

Overall this is a good offering. Not overpowering but a good expression of a primarily ex-bourbon aging spirit.
