Background: I had this blind then was revealed the note so keep that in mind when reading my review. This is a 3 year old rye from Bardstown distillers, bottled under their Willet Rye line.
ABV: 53.7%
Nose: Strong green apple, honeydew, spice, nutmeg, allspice.
Palate: Medium, oily, warm mouthfeel. Heat, rye spice, slight green apple, baking spices, oak, some leather.
Finish: Medium length, rye spice, oak, a hint of leather.
This is good. The nose is the most interesting part, the flavors are fine in the palate and finish but they feel muted for some reason. Maybe I am off tonight, but this is a decent rye but nothing too crazy.
Rating: 5/10
Guess: Whistlepig Store Pick, Alberta Source, 52-56% abv
Reveal: Willet 3 Year Rye, 53.7%
