Background: This is a 10 year old Scotch from Scotland that has been aged for 9 years in a combo of 80% ex bourbon and 20% ex sherry casks before marrying for a year in first fill Oloroso Sherry casks. I had this blind then was revealed the notes so keep that in mind while reading my notes.
ABV: 57%
Nose: Warm peat, kind of bbqesque, hint of fruit, honey, grapes
Palate: Peat, warm, underlying bbq sweet notes to me, hot.
Finish: Medium length, sweet, honey. Peat.
Rating: 5/10
This isn’t bad but it’s a little one dimensional in terms of flavors. The nose is the most interesting bit but the palate and finish run together. The flavors are a little disjointed and it runs kind of hot.
Guess: Some kind of peated entry, maybe a hint of finish or none at all.
Reveal: Benromach Imperial proof
Well, kind of a decent guess, but this is fine, but I think there are better things around the same price point
