Review #85; Rye #19: Knob Creek Twice Barreled Rye

Background: This was a blind review, with a series of ryes blinded, then I was revealed the bottle after. This is a Rye that has been finished in new level 4 charred oak barrels.

This is a series that I will be posting my reviews and reveal from but no the overall results. A group of us did a big rye split where we samples over a month blind samples from each other where we dedicated whole bottles, set those scores into a google doc, then pronounced a winner after it was all over.

There was a non-participating member who made sure there were no double entries so lets kick this off.

Rye #3 (the samples are not in a sequential number order)

Nose: Vanilla, corn, malty, oak, muted. Not much spice

Palate: Malty, Oak, corn vanilla , hint of spice but not much.

Finish: Medium length, corn, oak, leather vanilla.

If this is a rye, it’s a barely legal rye

Rating: 5/10

Reveal: I never guessed on this one, but it turned out to be KC’s twice Barreled Rye. I could assume that was the oakier influence as i Normally don’t get as much oak in ryes. Thanks for reading!
