Review #84: Scotch #16: Malts of Scotland Laphroaig 18yr 2000

Background: This is an indie bottling of 2000 vintage Laphroaig aged in a single sherry hogshead until 2018, when it was bottled by Malts of Scotland. A release of just 223 bottles.

ABV: 51.8%

Nose: Very sweet sherry, vanilla frosting, peat, figs, allspice, grapes. Smells amazing.

Palate: Thick oily mouthfeel, peat, hint of medicinal, sherry on the backend with some tart fruits, the baking spices are there. Well balanced

Finish: Long, peat, sherry, baking spices. Warm and wet.

Another delicious IB of Laphroaig, the sherry cask really treats it well.
