Background: This is a single barrel produced by American Rum Distiller Privateer. This molasses rum was aged for 2 years in New American Oak then finished for 3 months in a 500 liter French Oak Cognac Cask. I had this blind then was revealed the bottle so keep that in mind when reading my notes.
ABV: 55%
Nose: A little bit of sweetness mixed with tangy funk. Brown Sugar, a little earthy in a good way.
Palate: Nice oily mouthfeel, Funky sweetness, Molasses, tangy fruits, oaky, Vanilla hint, all spice. The longer I sip on this the more flavors come out. Black pepper.
Finish: Warm, medium longish length. Funky tangyess and oak layer and mix well together. Creamy vanilla
Theres a distinct note that’s the funk and I can’t place it, Chemical, black pepper maybe? Its interesting and very enjoyable. This is funky and weird but enjoyable. The sweetness fades in and out but it’s the funk that keeps me interested.

This is good, Im just getting into rums, this being the 3rd rum I have ever tried but am looking forward to learning more about it!
